Ape Action Africa

Ape Action Africa (AAA) is a thriving wildlife sanctuary located in Yaounde, Cameroon that is part of the Children of Conservation Scholarship program. AAA is passionate about great ape conservation. The sanctuary rescues orphaned and injured gorillas and chimpanzees, some only days old and hours from death. They work with the communities around Yaounde to develop long-term solutions to ensure the primates’ survival in the wild. Once in the protected zone at Mefou Primate Park, safe from poachers, the animals are provided with urgent veterinary care and nourishment by Ape Action’s trained experts, many of whom are beneficiaries of the Children of Conservation Scholarship Program. Eventually, when the young orphans are strong enough, they are reintroduced to groups of their own kind in safe and controlled environments.
